The names of the streets in the Salt Lake City
neighborhood of Highland Park follow the
ABC's. First there is Alden Street, then
Beverly, then Chadwick, then Dearborn.
It is fitting, then that an elementary school
with such a good handle on the basics draws
its students from the ABC Streets.
Highland Park is particularly strong in its
reading instruction. Some of my Highland
Park clients have sworn that it's the best
school in the state, no matter what the test
scores say. Speaking of scores, Highland
Park's are kind of mixed this year, but still

school like this: Highland Park is a learning
community featuring diversity, arts,
technology, an outstanding faculty and staff,
and strong support from parents. It is a place
where caring, respect, trust, family and
responsibility are taught and lived everyday.
* Highland Park curriculum is strong and
balanced covering the full range of subjects
mandated by the State of Utah including
literacy, math, science, dance, drama, music
and visual arts. Two computer labs allow each
child to receive technology related instruction
two to three times per week. A "Hands On
Science" program is offered to students in
Grades 3-6.
