| What's Up With Bonneville? |
Every school seems to have an off year on
standardized tests now and then. But I don't
recall seeing a dropoff this severe. The
fifth-graders at Bonneville, in one of the
most affluent areas of Sugar House Utah,
pulled fifth-grade scores you would expect
to see in high-poverty schools.
I'm very familiar with Bonneville. Having
volunteered there many times, I became
acquainted with many talented, dedicated
teachers. So I am chalking up the 2006 test
results to the kind of freakish anomaly that
may never be explained.
And one thing is for certain, the parents who
send their kids to this school wouldn't be
happy to see a recurrence of these scores.
