A Neighborhood
in Transition
Oak Hills/St. Marys
When the first Sugar
House Utah's Oak
Hills/St. Marys
neighborhood in the
late 1950s and early
1960s, they must have
felt especially at home,
because so few ever
left. Maybe it was
because of the
spacious ramblers, still
the most livable home
style in the Sugar
House area. Maybe it
was the location, just
10 minutes from
downtown. Maybe it
was the sweeping
views of the valley, or
maybe it was a
combination of all
three. Today, the
original residents are
elderly. More and more
are moving out each
year. As they do,
contractors are
snapping up and
renovating these solid
homes. I always said
this is a million-dollar
neighborhood waiting
to happen. Now it's
happening.
