Sugar House Utah: Surrounding Areas
|
Liberty Park Has A Familiar Charm
|
Liberty Park homes look
a lot like those in Sugar
House. They are just a
little older. The area was
settled around the turn
of the last century, and it
is heavy with bungalows.
Unlike Upper Sugar
House real estate, which
was built on the rocky
shores of the old Lake
Bonneville, the homes
around Liberty Park
were built on the former
Lake's sandy bottom.
This softer surface has
promoted a lot of
settling in homes with
shallow foundations,
such as bungalows, and
these homes tend to
look a bit crooked. Don't
despair. This shifting
occurred 80 or more
years ago, and any associated problems
were taken care of long ago. The homes
tend to sell for a lot less per square foot
than those in Sugar House, but there isn't
really a whole lot of visual difference. Both
areas sport a lot of quaint brick homes on
tree-lined streets near great city parks.
The duck pond in Liberty Park was a little low on water on Jan. 14, 2008.
A beautiful old bungalow on 600 East near Liberty Park.
The Park Cafe is just across 1300 South.
Liberty Park has arcade rides in the summer.
The Seven Canyons Fountain is a popular
warm-weather Liberty Park attraction. Below,
the fountains like beneath a blanket of snow.
The Liberty Park jogging path is usually busier than this.
This 800-square-foot cottage on 1300
South sold for $99,000 last year. A lot
of homes still sell for around $200K.
This 1,976-square-foot bungalow on 500
East sold for $330,000 last year.
Liberty Park is a hot
area for young
professionals. The
homes are cute and
affordable. The
most expensive in
the whole area sold
for $330,000 last
year. There are a lot
of nice choices for
less than $250,000.
